In a time that offered nothing to read, when the trains like Time were not moving and restlessness permeated the air, the internet exploded giving way to a multitude of literary avenues. As a result, the death of the paper journal was predicted and it became evident that we needed to establish a forum that would embody a space between the digital and the analogue. Thus we created Skeppet, a literary journal that inhabits the present as much as the past. Skeppet was founded in autumn 2010 and has been in print since January 1, 2012.
Offered both online and quarterly in print, Skeppet tries to bridge the literary gap between ink and binary. Paper issue can be found in Stockholm at Söderbokhandeln, S:t Pauls bookshop, Kulturhuset and Rönnells. They are also available in the city of Uppsala at Drottninggatans bookshop, and in Malmö at Hamrelius bookshop and Malmö art gallery. By publishing poetry, critical commentary, essays and novels we aim to present a bold, high and lowbrow literary perspectives in a Swedish cultural context. Our editorial team consists of seven literature and art students, based in Uppsala and Stockholm, who work without sleep or food.
